In Weave

Beata Wietrzyńska is a psychologist with master weaver title. She learned the weaving craft at the Center Européen pour la Promotion des Arts in Luxembourg and from Polish folk weavers. Creating short series of unique fabrics, she explores the possibilities of warp and weft interpenetration, experiments preserving the utility function. Since 2014, Beata Wietrzyńska has been cooperating with the Magda Butrym brand - limited collections of original women's clothes are sewn from her fabrics. In Weave materials are used as decorative fabrics, they work well as home textiles and accessories such as shawls and scarves.

For me, designing is a conversation with yarn, it’s texture and colors. By choosing a weave, I change the chaos of many kilometers of threads into an ordered fabric structure. I smile knowing that my hand-woven materials accompany someone as unique and timeless everyday items.
Beata weaves on wooden harness looms, uses natural fibers like wool, linen, cotton or silk. Practices traditional weaving techniques in their contemporary version, uses computer program for designing. The inspiration for the projects comes from color and texture combinations found in nature. Her specialties are deflected doubleweave, lace weaves, including leno, and iridescent fabrics.
