A bird figurine made of solid charred ash and handforged brass and steel.
The fogurine may be ordered with a steel („black”) beak.
made to order – waiting time up to 3 weeks
The bird figurines are very simple and synthetic in form. The process of charring gives the wood a deep black colour and enhaces its grain.
Each figurine is entirely handcrafted so no two are exactly alike.
The figurine is packed in a cardboard box with a logo.
Each figurine is handcrafted by sculpting (not wood turning). Thus each is unique and may slightly differ from the ones shown in the pictures. The diffrences may also be due to natural grain and colour of the wood.
Finished with linseed oil.

usage: Dust with a soft dry cloth. Charred wood is water resistant, however, due to metal elements, do not expose the figurine to humidity.
Kuźnia Skały is architect Marcin Skalski’s craft project merging black-smithing and woodworking.
Coming from Lesser Poland’s countryside, my main inspiration is traditional applied art – ordinary everyday objects such as a ferruled wooden wheel or a scythe.
In my works I often use reclaimed materials and leftover pieces of wood found at a sawmill, which have distinguishing textures and unique esthetic qualities.
