New craft in full view \u2014 starting on April 23, BWA in Bydgoszcz will host an exhibition dedicated to contemporary craft. It is an opportunity to discover 35 makers and a wide range of techniques, materials, and approaches to the creative process.<\/p>\n

New Moon in Full is a series of exhibitions organized by Stowarzyszenie N\u00f3w. Nowe Rzemios\u0142o, presenting the most interesting works by its members. The Bydgoszcz edition is the seventh in the series and the largest to date. For the first time, contemporary craft reveals so many diverse faces.<\/p>\n
In recent years, the Polish craft scene has changed significantly and matured. New galleries have appeared, and the term \u201ccollectible design\u201d has become firmly established in our language. Yet the conversation about collectible design, of which artistic craft is an integral part, reflects the perspective of the viewer \u2014 the collector, patron, or user. That perspective naturally focuses on the object\u2019s appearance: its visual appeal, functionality, or investment value. At the New Moon in Full exhibition, we broaden that perspective and focus on what lies beyond the physical appeal of the craft object. These works are created not so much in response to market demand as, above all, as a result of personal expression, a confrontation with material, a need to tell a private story, a record of impressions or emotions, and a sensual experience of making by hand. Seen in this way, the presented works of contemporary craft are closer to art objects than to utilitarian items, and the New Moon in Full exhibition invites viewers to see craft not as a collection of objects, but as a record of thinking and action. It is an exhibition about dialogue with material and heritage, and about craft as a space for expression and collaboration.<\/p>\n
