HUBA
Huba is a pottery studio established in 2021 by Jakub Ciemachowski and Piotr Kołakowski, creating wood-fired stoneware and black earthenware. Jakub and Piotr go back to basics: use local materials, sourced with respect to nature; make useful, everyday objects; try to find beauty in simplicity. Working with universally available raw materials such as clay, stone and ash, they perpetuate the age-old human activity: transforming what the Earth offers into objects of everyday use in a manner that has nothing to do with mass production and overexploitation of resources, which reached extreme levels in the 20 th and 21 st centuries.
What we are most excited about is the surrender of some control over the process and the end result – to the elements.
In our work we strive to deliver everyday objects that make people appreciate the modest beauty hidden in nuances. We believe that objects that surround us shape ourselves and our environment. Bearing that thought in mind, we decided that only the objects we truly want to make will go into the kiln.
