Product description

While visiting galleries and studios in Jingdezhen, the world's porcelain capital, I noticed that Chinese artists often depict animals, some of which hold special significance. Therefore, the main theme of my art residency at Jingdezhen Ceramic University was "Lucky Animals."

All these pieces take the form of animal silhouettes constructed from elements resembling architectural structures. In Chinese culture, the crane symbolizes good luck, perseverance, and prosperity.

Technique

This work was created using the slab-building technique. It is covered with a high fire matte glaze and was fired in an electric kiln in an oxidation atmosphere.

How to use

Cleaning – dust with a dry brush or wash under stream of water. Ceramic object – handle with care.

Katarzyna Miściur is a visual artist specializing in ceramic art and drawing. She graduated from the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław with a Master of Arts degree in ceramic art and design, as well as MA in ceramic and glass conservation. From 2019 to 2023, she worked as Studio Manager at the Guldagergaard International Ceramic Research Center in Denmark, collaborating with the international community of artists. Since 2023, she has been working in studios around the world, participating in residencies and symposia. She currently holds a position of Ceramics Designer at the Institute of Design in Kielce, while continuing her ceramic career.
