Product description
Each kilim from THE SUNS collection is a handmade textile ready to hang on the wall. The whole process of making it took about thirty hours of craftsman work. It’s made out of raw wool, dyed with only natural dyes: madder root, tansy, logwood and oak bark. They sometimes tend to fade or change their shade as the time goes by. That feature is an opportunity for a kilim to age with its owner and to be present in all his life.
Kilim is a very long-lived kind of textile, which can last dozens and even hundreds years with the proper care.
Every design is made only once and won’t be ever repeated. The kilim is signed; bear a serial number and names of designer and maker.
Metal rings have been sewn into the kilim, making it ready to hang on the wall. The colors and details of the kilim may vary slightly from those shown in the photo. This is due to individual display settings as well as the natural fading of plant-based dyes.
Technique
Every Tartaruga’s product was hand woven in traditional kilim technique in our studio in Łódź. That’s why we can guarantee ethicality of the whole production process. One of the most precious values for us is a work of human hands. Long hours that we as craftsmen spend with every item we make. We believe, that every handcrafted item has a hidden story, that begins in the workshop and then continues in the hands of its owner.
