Product description

The bird figurines are very simple and synthetic in form, focusing on to the grain of the wood and the texture of forged steel. They're made of local species of wood. I usually use interesting leftovers found at a sawmill. The wood is thoroughly polished up to bring to one's mind the feeling of an old wooden handle smoothed by the years of its usage. The figurine is packed in a cardboard box with a logo.

Each figurine is handcrafted by sculpting (not wood turning). Thus each is unique and may slightly differ from the ones shown in the pictures. The differences may also be due to natural grain and colour of the wood. Finished with linseed oil.
Each figurine is entirely handcrafted so no two are exactly alike. The figurine is packed in a cardboard box with a logo.

Execution technique

Each figurine is handcrafted by sculpting (not wood turning). Thus each is unique and may slightly differ from the ones shown in the pictures. The diffrences may also be due to natural grain and colour of the wood. Finished with linseed oil.

How to use

Dust with a soft dry cloth. When needed, wipe with a rag soaked in natural wood oil. Do not use water-based finishes.
kuznia_skaly
Kuźnia Skały is architect Marcin Skalski's craft project merging black-smithing and woodworking. Coming from Lesser Poland's countryside, my main inspiration is traditional applied art - ordinary everyday objects such as a ferruled wooden wheel or a scythe. In my works I often use reclaimed materials and leftover pieces of wood found at a sawmill, which have distinguishing textures and unique esthetic qualities.
