Jamy is an artistic series of sculptural box furniture, the form of which references the deformations of trees resulting from animal activity, such as a hollow or barn, or from decay.
The object is the result of experiments with traditional techniques of working with a full log and was made using the chisel technique, which was once used, for example, to make log hives. This functional sculpture was created by reversing the design process. The work began with the material – in this case, a poplar log that was already partly hollow inside – rather than with a utilitarian need.
