“NOW. NEW CRAFT” is a new series of exhibitions, events and meetings in which NÓW invites friends to present works together, talk and exchange experiences.
The first in the series will be a weekend event and exhibition at Ferment - featuring Korean ceramicist Kim Dae Woong, Korean ceramic artist Sony Park, ceramicist Olga Milczynska, weaver Beata Wietrzynska and woodworker Jakub Przyborowski. Combining works from such distant cultures can be a challenge, but here it turns out that the artists have more in common than it may seem.
The works on display exude tranquility. There is breath and beauty in them, so necessary in today's world. We can see both the rawness of the materials used: clay, wood, linen, as well as the trace of the skilled hand of the master, which gives them delicacy. The process of creating the objects requires time and patience, and this translates/influences the contemplative reception of the exhibition. Put together, the objects could form the setting of a story about an Asian monk.
During the opening weekend, there will be a Korean tea ceremony and a talk on the process of learning ceramics and becoming a master. There will be an opportunity to talk freely with the artists, as well as simply relax and contemplate.

About the participants:
Dae-woong Kim (b. 1972, Seoul) completed his bachelor's and master's degrees in ceramics at Dankook University in Seoul. He then trained under artist Seung-ho Yang for four years, working in France, Switzerland and Korea. His artistic vision focuses on harmonizing traditional Korean ceramics with the texture of nature and the primal power of fire. Kim has had 32 solo exhibitions and participated in more than 100 group exhibitions both in Korea and Europe. He also served as president of the Korean Wood-Fired Ceramics Association, where he organized and led more than 10 workshops on building and firing wood-fired kilns. In 2008, Kim was invited to the World Ceramics Biennale in Icheon and has since participated in more than 10 international symposiums and artist residencies.

Sona Park (b. 1993, Seoul) is an artist, ceramicist with experience in visual and media design. She graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Visual and Media Design at Sookmyung Women's University in Seoul, Korea. After working in visual and media design for five years, she turned to ceramics. While in Bali, Indonesia, Sona discovered the underwater world and was deeply captivated by its beauty. This fascination led her to create her own unique style inspired by the underwater world, which now shapes her ceramic works. In her works, Sona captures the essence of time and space, embedding these elements in her ceramics. Her works traverse the present, the future and the past, showing the sights, textures and spirit of centuries and even millennia. Her approach to ceramics is less like creation and more like discovery, as if each piece had been excavated from a forgotten place and was waiting to be found.

Olga Milczyńska - Ceramicist, artist, craftsman. She taught ceramics at the School of Form. Among other things, she graduated from the ceramics department at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, as well as the University of Arts in Poznan. She gained practical knowledge by working in ceramic studios in the UK, France, Denmark and South Korea. Involved in supporting the vanishing craft of rural pottery in Poland, she has worked with the Pottery Center in Medynia Glogowska. She co-founded the Association Nów. New Craft. As an artist she has participated in many international and national exhibitions. She participated in the Ceramic Biennale in Indonesia in 2019 or Dutch Design Week 2020.

Beata Wietrzyńska - A psychologist with a master's degree in the weaving profession. She learned the craft at the Centre Européen pour la Promotion des Arts in Luxembourg and from Polish women folk weavers. She co-founded the Association Nów. New Craft. In 2023 she was awarded the title of Master of Arts and Crafts by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
She translates images, emotions, memories into the language of thread fabric. She reflects their character through colors, textures, rhythms. she uses natural fibers with different properties in the materials he creates. As a result, the works include geometric motifs with color contrasts, as well as organic ones, inspired by nature, with sparing, subdued colors.
Beata's fabrics are used as personal items (a must have 2023 award for DDW's shawl/blanket collection), decorative panels, as well as clothing materials (she has been working with the Magda Butrym brand since 2014). Regardless of their function, their purpose is to give the recipient comfort, peace, and pleasure from interacting with the hand-woven material.

Jakub Przyborowski (born 1989) - A carpenter by vocation. After studying planning, he decided to radically change his life, to escape from office work and take up craftsmanship. For several years he gained experience in workshops and carpentry manufactories, to finally start creating under his own name. Currently, he carries out original and commissioned projects of furniture and utilitarian objects in a small studio in Warsaw's Praga district. In addition to his creative work, he is actively involved in activities promoting crafts as president of the association Nów. New Craft and a teacher at the Woodworkshop traditional carpentry school.
Jacob's motivation for creating is to improve his own skills - perfecting his technique and expanding his knowledge of wood, but also to work on his character. As he likes to say: “Carpentry is a constant struggle, not necessarily with the material, more often with oneself.” He presents the course of these struggles in his works, exposing handmade, precise carpentry joints and creating simple but challenging geometric forms.
